Check out a ccmBuzz member review of Family Force 5's Dance Or Die EP
If you read the last Family Force 5 thread I made, you should know that FF5 will be coming out with a new album entitled Dance or Die next month. The members say that this upcoming album will contain more of a retro, dance flavor than the rockier Business Up Front/Party In The Back. Some of you may have already downloaded their EP via iTunes, which actually just contains three songs that will be featured on the full length album and has been given the same name.
The title track, "Dance or Die" gave me a bit of a disco feel. It wasn't something that I was too incredibly thrilled with at first, but it has since grown on me. According to Soul Glow Activator (A.K.A., Solomon Olds, FF5's lead singer) it is "about the whole Robot's-killing-off-the-humans vs FF5's ability to defeat them with their dance-y rock sounds."
The next song on the EP, "Fever" is a song that I shall forever and always dance to. It has been throned my favorite song on the three-song EP. It's just a great song that you can't help but dance to when it hits your eardrums. Not only that, but Soul Glow says that it has a great meaning behind it. He said during a JFH interview that, "Fever is about catching a fever from the Holy Spirit and turning up the heat in your life while spreading it to others."
Finally, the last song that we have been given to tie us over until August is entitled "Wake the Dead." Soul Glow says that this song is "pretty explanatory because it is talking about waking up a dead society and waking up the people that want to keep it that way- music, politics, and spirituality need to be woken up today." Again, this song is definitely dance-able. You'll want to jump around whenever you hear it, no matter where you are.
During an interview that I read, FF5 stated that even though there is an obvious dance theme to the release it also has some crazy rock stuff on it, and maybe even a slow jam or two.
I'm a big fan of FF5, I think they way their music just makes you dance is incredible. I fully enjoyed the EP, but it is only making me crave the rest even more. I can't wait until August 19th so I can get my hands on the full album. All I can say is that I'm really looking forward to their August release.
