Listening to DecembeRadio is a bit like taking a trip back in time, when Classic Rock was just… rock. Echoes of such bands as Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foreigner, Kansas, Styx and more recent 90’s revelation Lenny Kravitz are found throughout the album, but DecembeRadio’s sound cannot be pigeonholed. It’s a modern sound that draws from a range of genres and gleans only the best from the roots of traditional rock music. My favorite track on the album is also the first single release, "Love Found Me". This song somehow manages to fuse southern rock, gospel and even a touch of boogie-woogie piano together into one cohesive whole. I enjoyed the entire album, from the aggressive "Razor" to the southern rock feel of "Drifter" to the more mellow, "Alright My Friend". Beyond the driving guitar work and compelling melodies, DecembeRadio is chock full of honest and insightful lyrics. "Razor" and "Can’t Hide" give us an up front, candid look at abuse and addiction, while "Table" sets forth powerful questions for listeners to ponder: "There'll be no one to blame, there'll be no one to shame but you DecembeRadio has garnered its share of attention over the last year, featured in Billboard Magazine’s "Faces to Watch for 2006" and voted Rock Radio Summit’s "Buzz Band of the Year" in 2005. So is DecembeRadio really a ‘Buzz Band’ worth watching? They’ve got my vote…and if you appreciate neo-classic rock with a harder edge than most Christian music, I think you’ll agree.
