Evanescence and Flyleaf have spawned another hopeful female-led band. Orlando based punk-rock group, Fireflight, is similar to a more positive version of both; they launch into The Healing of Harms with driving guitars and dynamic vocals, backed by words of encouragement and hope.

The CD opens with a pop and a bang with the song "Serenity", an oddly mystifying song. The lyrics are a prayer for the Lord to open their eyes to Christ’s love. "Show me how to see the love that brings serenity."

"You Decide" is possibly the most notable highlight of the album. The mix and composition is brilliantly executed, especially in the vocal arrangement of the chorus. The lyrics are an open challenge for people to take some initiative in life.

The slightly more dynamic "Star of the Show" addresses the fact that although we are living in a self-seeking society, we are called to acknowledge God and bring Him glory in all that we say and do. Along the same lines of selfish modern culture is "Myself." It carefully portrays a Christian’s awakening, selflessness and the walk that is taken with the Lord to take us to that point. "You woke me up / and made me learn to love / more than myself / You took my hand / before I knew there was / more than myself" rings true for listeners who are taking that walk.

The last song, "Action", is a plea to Christians to do something about the state of the world and bring some light into the darkness. It thumps out the final notes of the album with the words, "We’re looking for some action / we need something to happen / no more wasted nights and days / we’re looking for some action."

While many artists write to encourage the youth of today as they grow into adulthood, very few albums actually portray the transition as fervently as The Healing of Harms.
