"Just straight up rock and roll" is how Monday Morning explains their sound, and that is certainly what you will get when you pick up a copy of their debut album with Selectric Records. Fool's Paradise includes nine songs from their two previous independent albums and three all new recordings. The message behind Fool's Paradise as a whole seems to be just that - without Christ, we are living in our own paradise. Living ignorant to the problems of the world today leaves us as fools who are desperate for something better. We mess up, fail miserably, question Him constantly, and do whatever else we do, but ultimately, Christ is the only answer. Fool's Paradise also deals with issues like race in "Can't Go On," self doubt in "Vanity," and physical abuse in "Desperate." The album starts out with the new song, "Sunshine." The lyrics describe how it feels to sometimes be in the dark and not know what's going on in life. It goes on to give the hope that, with new information, there's a proverbial "light at the end of the tunnel." "Next Year (Wonder of it All)", which is now playing on radio stations across the country and is #6 on CHR Charts this week, goes through the molding process of accepting Christ as the center of life, and even with changes, we are still nothing next to Him. It proceeds to ask the challenging question, "And I wonder where I'll be next year. Will You stand right next to me? Will You hold me faithfully?" The sound stays pretty consistent through the whole album, with hints of sounds similar to U2, Kutless and Audio Adrenaline. They have also been compared to Our Lady Peace and Fuel.
