Boomin' Beyond Measure Tour Promo"Cause we’re boomin’, out the stereo system...” Just like the albums Portable Sounds and Stay, the Boomin’ Beyond Measure Tour was a huge treat for fans of Toby Mac, Jeremy Camp and Matthew West alike.

The night started out with Matthew West, a very nice opener if you ask me. Before coming on, a bit of the documentary about his vocal cord surgery was shown. Then the footage and sounds stopped, and he came on stage alone. He spoke about it a little, and played his bit ("Thirteen", "More", "A Friend in the World", and "Only Grace"). He looked a little bit lonely, out in front of the back drop all by himself, but it didn’t seem to bug him too much. He was a good way to start the night and in all honesty, he deserved more stage time. He was GREAT.

Toby Mac came on stage, and told us to give it up for his man Matthew West. He started talking about how he and Jeremy had wanted to do this tour for a long time, and how they’d been really excited when they were given the opportunity. The only problem? Deciding who was going to go first. “I suggested arm wrestling, but you know, that wouldn’t have been fair. Would’ve been too easy,” He told us, obviously having fun. Finally, he explained that they’d flipped a coin. “Ladies and gentleman! I give you Jeremy Camp!” With that, he stepped off stage and the white backdrop fell, revealing Jeremy’s entire band, standing at the ready.

Jeremy did some of his more popular songs- “Take You Back,” “Give You Glory,” “Let It Fade,” to name a few. Most people in the crowd (myself included) seemed to be expecting the more worship-y songs. None were expecting “Take My Life” to be so powerful or so exciting. It was a nice surprise for all of us. He read us a few passages from the bible and everything just flowed. About half way through, he asked for a few volunteers, and had them come up on stage and ‘dance’, the way he would, under the excuse that he didn’t have the dancing skills that Toby and the Diverse City Band had.

Jeremy, like many other artists, made a speech about the charity that he supports. During his speech, he told us that if we could help, it would be greatly appreciated, but he didn’t want us to feel pressured. I’ve seen several shows where the singers spoke about Compassion, and Jeremy’s was the one that touched me the most. He wasn’t up there, advertising. He was up there saying, “Look, people need help. Compassion helps. If you don’t have a charity or something that you donate to, think about working with Compassion. It really does make a difference in the world.”

Jeremy definitely had the most prayerful part, ending his bit with “Give Me Jesus.” Personally, I think it was a good way to end. It reminded the crowd that we weren’t there to just see him and Toby and Matt, but more to lift up praise together.

The footage for Jeremy’s charity, Compassion International, was shown while the set was changed for Toby.

Then the back drop fell again, revealing the Diverse City Band. They started with “Ignition” and did several other songs off of Portable Sounds, “Boomin’” and “Made to Love,” among others. He did cover all of his albums though, which was nice- I sang along with everything. At the beginning of the night, Toby was said “Tonight, we’re gonna be lifting up one name, and one name alone. And it sure ain’t gonna be Toby Mac.” Later on, when playing “Love is in the House,” Toby made a little speech, about how no matter what you’ve been through, what stupid things you’ve done, and no matter how far you drifted from God, He is ALWAYS THERE. “All you gotta do is turn around,” Toby told us. At this point, he came out into the aisle, and stood in the middle of the crowd to finish the song. I never expected to be brought to the verge of tears by Toby Mac. I won’t deny it. But lots of people (myself included) were very touched by what he said. He was AMAZING. I will definitely make a point of seeing him again.

Plenty of energy, awesome lyrics, and three great singers brought the excitement into the show, and I for one, left the show completely satisfied. I will be seeing all three again, as soon as I can.
